Over the years I have slow-flipped* several properties. I get asked a lot how I learned to do this. Like many people, I’m a combination of my parents: my real estate broker mother taught me how to identify properties with “good bones” and my builder father never let me get away with playing “the girl card” when it came to being handy and building things. This unique mix, plus my own musical interests, led me to be outside the box and creative which gives me my eye for identifying houses and beautifying homes.
I was heavily involved in the physical labor of these projects and hired out when it was above my skill set. My husband and son helped along the way.
- A “slow-flip” is our term for buying, fixing, holding, renting and profiting off our properties until the timing is right to sell and make a profit from the sweat equity, risk tolerance and property savvy we’ve developed along the way.
